On the south bank of the Ottawa River, the Canadian capital Ottawa is a grand symbol of what the country stands for: bilingualism, civic pride and wonderful vistas.
Facing Langevin Block (the prime minister’s office) is the city’s most famous landmark - the Centre Block parliament building. Its tall central tower and circular parliamentary library make a great photograph from Gatineau across the river, which is joined to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rideau Canal by a series of locks. Skating on the frozen canal is a highlight of the huge Ottawa Winterlude festival.
The city’s history is detailed in Bytown Museum by the locks. Opposite is peaceful Major’s Hill Park, overlooked by Château Laurier, a historic hotel named after a former prime minister. Also named after him is Laurier House, his seat of office. Other important national buildings include the Royal Canadian Mint, Supreme Court, and Rideau Hall, the Queen’s official residence when in the country.
The business district and Ottawa Convention Centre are in Downtown, and nearby shopping options include Rideau Mall and ByWard Market - the oldest farmers’ market in Canada and the area with the best nightlife.
Ottawa accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with pools, B&Bs with parking and apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from MacDonald-Cartier Airport.
The Hop On and Hop Off bus was not available. There were lots of us, tourists, who went around the vicinity looking for the bus,
Ottawa is a beautiful city. My first impression was, you see a lot of policemen around which made us feel safe.

We were there for the tulip festival on the Victoria weekend. The place was bustling. We went to Parliament buildings and had a great time walking around. Ate at a nice buffet in the Byward Market. Lots of activities around there. Live dj in the street, sales booths, etc... The family members that came with me for the trip thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. We even took time to go to Rue Ste. Catherine in Montreal.

Lots to see and visit.
Lots to see and visit. I was able to walk around easily, I visited the Tulip Festival and there was a shuttle bus that stopped and picked up passengers from different hotels close to me. You paid once for the round trip and could return whenever you wanted which made it very convenient. There are several restaurants close to my hotel so there was no problem finding one to eat at.

Love Ottawa but it can be very busy.
Love Ottawa but it can be very busy. Love the location of the Les Suites as everything is within walking distance. The capital buildings, the river, the market, the park and lots of eateries and shopping.
The apartment was in a quiet part of town with very easy access (by car) to downtown Ottawa. The unit was bright despite being at just below ground level. Loads of windows along with privacy blinds which allowed the light in. Any help or support needed was a phone call away. Access to the building and unit was by door code and then lockbox. All information to get to the parking and self-access was provided in advance of our arrival. We also asked for an earlier check in time, which was provided.
We had a small 2-bedroom apartment which is perfectly fine for 2 students. The beds were quite comfy. It's a little small if you stay with a family of four but it's OK for 2 nights. The location is outside of central Ottawa which could have been easily reached by bus but there was a huge construction going on so it took at least twice as long to go downtown as usual. It should be finished by now so that this problem shouldn't exist any longer. Bathroom and kitchen were cleaned well.
Our Family has been coming to this hotel since 2015... We always come back for the Pool... water temp warm (perfect) ... due to covid they only allow one family in the pool at a time... (i think this is better)
We booked two rooms with both double beds... Hotel called and upgraded bcuz they ran out of the double bed rooms so we got 3 rooms (two with kings and one with 2double beds)...
Travelodge Ottawa East always tries to make us feel welcome the staff are friendly and helpful,
The staff was very nice and helpful and there was always someone there.
My room was on level 9 and there is no elevator but I could leave my big luggage at the reception desk and just ask to get something from it when I needed it.
I really liked that there was a breakfast with fruits included and the location was amazing to explore byward market, downtown ottawa and parliament etc.
The jail tour was very interesting!
We had a great stay! Location is good, right off the highway and close to a couple places for dinner/shopping, quick 20 min drive to downtown Ottawa. The facility was very clean, pool was great for the kids and we appreciated the open space for a couple parents getting together. The breakfast was great! Lots of options for everyone including make your own waffles which was a hit with the kids. Would 100% reccomend.
We had a great stay at the Century House B&B. The location is excellent - 10min walk to Downtown - and Vittoria is a perfect host. He gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and what to do in Ottawa. His breakfasts are amazing - different every day and not the run-of-the-mill eggs and bacon. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was on the small side but contained everything we needed.
Probably the best breakfast I’ve ever had from a three star hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and there was a great set up with a table for if you need to work from your room. was the best hotel we stayed at during our 3 city vacation. Location was also perfect, we could walk to the market as well as downtown easily.
Breakfast was adequate, my kids loved the chocolate muffins. Location is fantastic; I didn’t want the bustle around downtown and the hotel is just 10mins away. The room was adequate for a family of 4. We were able to use our Amazon fire stick with the tv,I absolutely loved the shower , my kids looked forward to it.
This place was extremely great; super clean & tidy, spacious and equipped with everything, very well-located - just a few steps away from uOttawa campus and its LRT station), ~30 min walk to the downtown area and Parliament hill. I highly recommend it and will consider it for my next trip to Ottawa!
Front desk and and housekeeping staff (very friendly and very willing to help)
Apartments (very spacious and the kitchen is fully equiped for a short stay with family/children)
Location (at the Ottawa's downtown core and a quiet street even during Canada Day's weekend!)
Yes, the hotel is dated, but the location and price cannot be beat. The kids enjoyed the pool and I enjoyed being able to go for early morning walks being right downtown. The kitchenette was decently stocked with amenities. Water pressure was good and water was hot.
The location is superb, right in the heart of downtown Ottawa. We used to stay there under its previous guise (Capital Hill) which was getting decidedly “tired”, so were delighted at the facelift — now bright, clean, and we’ll-appointed.
The view is great. Nice modern decor. Got a feel for living downtown Ottawa, didn't feel like a hotel. I could see myself living in a condo like this. Bed was super comfy the bedroom was nice and minimalist. I fell asleep fast here!
Good location. Especially for the price, within walking distance of Parliament Hill, Byward Market, around hotel, need to aware of your surroundings, but if you stay along St. Patrick Street when walking downtown, it is safer.
Beautiful building! The hotel is a historic building that is in a fantastic location for Ottawa. The lobby is nice and cozy and you are able to reach most of downtown Ottawa by walking from this hotel.
This hotel was booked for it's close proximity to a friends house but was also close to downtown (10" by car) .
Service and quality of food in 'The Bistro' was beyond our first impression.
